The Math of More than Enough

But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.”

- 1 Timothy 6:6-10

The Myth of More

But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

- 1 Timothy 6:9

The Math of More than Enough states:

Godliness + Contentment = Great Gain

Godliness

“In the New Testament, "eusebeia" refers to a reverent and devout attitude towards God, characterized by a life that reflects His holiness and commands.” - The Berean Strong’s Lexicon

  • Loving God

  • Living like Christ

Contentment

“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.” - 2 Corinthians 9:8

“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.” - 2 Corinthians 9:7-8

True satisfaction comes from the sum total of loving God; living like Christ; and, being happy with what we have.

If we want to increase the satisfaction that we find in God, then we can increase the variables in the “Math of More than Enough” equation.
