Impact

"Impact of One" Discussion Guide

Recap

  1. How did you encourage someone, sharpen them, or share with them recently?

Main Thought

Sharing Jesus, and playing a part in someone else coming to know Him, is one of the most impactful things we can do on earth. There are so many opportunities to do this, but we don’t always take them. Jesus saw people in need of His love. His heart was moved with compassion. He prayed and acted in love by going to the Cross. God looks to use and empower people who are willing to see, feel, pray, and act like Christ. These individuals will make an impact that goes beyond themselves on earth and in eternity!

Main Passages

35 And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
- Matthew 9:35-38

9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him.
- 2 Chronicles 16:9

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
- Matthew 28:19-20

Discussion Questions

  1. Think about someone you know who doesn’t have a relationship with Jesus. How would you describe the way Jesus feels about that person?

  2. Do you know three to five people who don’t have a personal relationship with Jesus? Write their names down somewhere, like in a prayer journal or in your phone. Spend five minutes every day praying for those people. Ask God for an opportunity to invite them to church, or to share the gospel and your testimony.

"Impact of Groups"

Recap:

  1. How can you be a blessing to Las Vegas by partnering with our church and Casa De Luz?

Main Thought

God wants His people to experience life in groups, and it’s impossible to truly follow Jesus without others. We can make a difference in the lives of other people by being a regular part of Christian community, especially in smaller settings. It doesn’t take an “expert” to encourage someone! We all have different backgrounds and experiences, so we can bring those things to the table to teach each other new things. Sharing with others is another sure-fire way to make an impact. We can share our time, gifts, resources, and even our food! The church as a whole is greatly impacted as people get active in groups. More groups means more chances for church members to get closer to God, and more opportunities for those who don’t attend church yet to get connected.

Main Passages

20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
- Matthew 18:20

24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
- Hebrews 10:24-25

Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.
- Proverbs 27:17

42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
- Acts 2:42

37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
- Matthew 9:37-38

"Giving and Generosity" Discussion Guide

Recap

  1. What miraculous thing are you asking God to do for you?

Main Thought

Everyone has a God-given desire to make an impact! One way that we can make an impact is through giving. Giving comes from God’s character. God gave humanity life and a world to live in. Jesus gave His life so that we could be reconciled to God and receive the perfect love He offered us. God gave because He loves us; if we love God and other people, then it’s natural that we would give too. We can give our time and strength to serve. We can give our finances to advance causes that honor God. Doing these things will allow us to make an impact that can be felt throughout eternity.

Main Passages

31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
- Genesis 1:31

16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
- John 3:16

3 For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, 4 they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the Lord’s people. 5 And they exceeded our expectations: They gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God also to us. 6 So we urged Titus, just as he had earlier made a beginning, to bring also to completion this act of grace on your part. 7 But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.
- 2 Corinthians 8:3-7
