Main Thought

Some of the spiritual gifts can be classified as “word gifts.” The word gifts clarify the nature, actions, and purposes of God. They help us get to know God more. These gifts also help others come to know God through us. Here are three word gifts that you, or someone you know, may have:

  • Wisdom: The special ability that God gives through his spirit, to certain members of the Body of Christ to know how given knowledge, both biblical and practical, may best be applied to specific needs in life, especially in the Body of Christ.

  • Exhortation: The special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to minister words of comfort, consolation, encouragement, and counsel to other members of the Body in such a way that they feel helped and healed.

  • Missionary: The special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to minister to others, using their unique gifts, in a culture other than their own.
